Our Picks For Best Kitchen Knife Brands 2019
Introduction
Our picks for the best kitchen knife brands for 2019 may come as a surprise to you.
You see, most other lists of best kitchen knife brands mainly include brands that tend to be more expensive and have been on the market for decades.
But this does not mean that newcomers and those brands that are more affordable should be excluded from anyone’s best kitchen knife set brands list.
Especially considering Willi Rose and I focus more on product reviews that are under $100 than those that are more expensive and therefore only available to those with the means to afford them.
With that being said, here are our picks for the best kitchen knife brands of 2019.
Our best kitchen knife brands for 2019
- Cuisinart
In 1971, Carl Sontheimer turned his love of French food into a name brand that is recognized around the world. Cuisinart’s first product, the food processor, was introduced in 1973 at a trade show in Chicago and it remains Cuisinart’s staple product.
The company, which is now owned by the Conair Corporation, has since introduced many products, including knives and knife sets.
Cuisinart knives have become synonymous with quality and affordability due to the durability of their knives and the price range they offer, meaning even the lower-priced knife sets provide quality and durability.
We have reviewed one of these affordable Cuisinart knife sets and will be adding a video review of the set here on DW Product Reviews.
In the meantime, we can tell you that no matter the price, if you purchase a Cuisinart knife or knife set you will be getting the best bang for your buck, which is why it is our choice for best kitchen knife brand of 2019.
2. Chicago Cutlery
Chicago Cutlery was founded by Alfred Paulson in 1930.
Initially, the company’s sole focus was providing knife sharpening services for local meatpacking companies.
However, as America grew, so did its demand for sharp, professional grade knives, especially in industries like meat and poultry processing and butchers.
In 1969, the company started offering their professional grade knives to the general public and it is still going strong today.
Both Willi Rose and I have owned a set of Chicago Cutlery knife sets and we can attest to their high-quality.
The prices for knife sets range from medium to high.
3. Dalstrong
Unlike our first two choices for best kitchen brands 2019, Dalstrong does nothing but produce professional-grade knives and knife sets.
Their three top-selling series is the “Shogun”, which is made from Japanese steel, the “Gladiator”, which is made from German steel, and the “Omega”, which is made from a hyper-blend of steel.
We have not personally reviewed any Dalstrong knives, but we included them on our list because of their reputation and the number of positive reviews the brand receives.
Prices range from the low end all the way up to top dollar, but judging by what users have to say, it will be money well spent.
4. Amazon Basics
This choice came as quite a surprise to us because we bought a set of Amazon Basic kitchen knives for a lower-priced kitchen knife set to review and needless to say we were not expecting much.
Boy, were we wrong!
While not on the same level as other choices, these knives did a great job for what we paid for them, in fact, I decided to keep them and put them use at home.
On top of that, these knives are produced and sold by Amazon, so if for some reason you were to encounter a problem, you can be assured that Amazon will back its guarantees and warranties.
When a problem arises, we find we get the best results when we deal with a manufacturer directly that we get the best results.
The prices for Amazon Basics kitchen knife sets are on the low end but don’t let this keep you from considering buying a set, because you don’t always have to pay a high price for the quality.
5. J.A. Henckels
The history of Zwilling J.A. Henckels AG dates back to June 1731. It was then that Johann Peter Henckels, a knife-maker based in Solingen, started the company and registered the “Twin” symbol that is now recognized throughout the world as his trademark with the Cutlers´ Guild of Solingen.
It is thus one of the oldest trademarks in the world that still produces some of the highest quality knives and knife sets money can buy.
This, coupled with the positive feedback and reviews from users, we had to include this iconic brand on our list and we can, with confidence, recommend J.A. Henckels International.
Prices range for a kitchen knife set to start around $90.00 on Amazon and go all the way up to the higher-end.
Conclusion
When it comes to choosing any product, you should always research your choices and that includes paying attention to reviews from actual users – it is they who have put the product to the test.
Which is exactly what we did in our review of the Cuisinart c77ss 15pc Classic Knife set, which is our choice for the best kitchen knife set 2019.
You should also consider the brand and the brand’s reputation for quality and customer service before making a final decision as to which product to buy out all the ones available.
And as always, keep in mind that a higher price does not always equate to higher quality and that a lower price does not always mean a product is lower quality.
